This week a fantastic marble and alabaster Art Nouveau signed figure lamp and column showed up. Its the type of piece that doesn’t come on the market very often these days. The column lights up; a photo is attached. A shipment of reclaimed wood furniture arrived from Vancouver. The shipment was mostly special orders for customers and items we are stocking up on for the busy holiday season. However there was a new item, the Settler chest of drawers. There is a large Settler line of bedroom furniture that can be special ordered, and now we have a sample. Just in time for the first snow we brought in a sleigh, 3 and 4 seat toboggans, and a cutter sleigh. Antique furniture arrivals this week include: a pair of lime green Victorian cameo chairs, pair of oak hall chairs, set of 6 oak dinning chairs, set of six French provincial dinning chairs, round oak table with a leaf, a nice small 3 drawer oak dresser, folding card table and 2 chairs [we get asked for these a lot], piano bench, large wicker trunk, assorted bar stools, walnut dropleaf table, iron and wood plant table, and more. Some of this weeks odds and ends include: a quarter cut oak serving tray, a pair of wall sconces, half a dozen assorted chandeliers, a quantity of silver plate holloware, framed prints, 23 piece set of Royal Sometuke Nippon china, oil lamps, and more. The award for most unusual item of the week goes to a vintage framed “Ripley’s believe it or not” TV show poster from the 1980’s hosted by Jack Palance and his daughter Holly Palance. Yes some stuff from the 1980’s is now considered vintage. I feel old.

This week a shipment of solid pine furniture arrived from Springwater Ontario. Springwater arrivals include: 3 and 4 food bucket benches in a variety of colours, tall sideboards, cubby benches, ladder shelves, Haggerty side tables, tater bins, plus some new items-the Killarney chalkboard, and a $95 table in three colours with your choice of curved or tapered legs. Lots of Christmas items were put out this week, a photo is attached. As always the coolest holiday gifts come from The Barn and we are well stocked. Antique furniture arrivals this week include: a flamed mahogany kneehole desk, Gibbard solid walnut tea wagon-a photo is attached, mahogany dresser and mirror, Art Deco chest of drawers and matching dresser and mirror, rocking chairs, coffee tables, a nice Queen mahogany bed, walnut chest of drawers, oval Victorian lamp table, Victorian ladies chair, assorted French and Victorian chairs, and more. Lots of lighting fixture this week including: a bronze chandelier, Alabaster candle chandelier, crystal chandeliers, swag lamp, and some hallway light fixtures. Even more new arrivals include: a 90 piece set of Limoges china, a quantity of crystal pieces, 12′ x 15′ Oriental rug, 3 new and rebuilt motors, 8′ apple ladder, large wine jar, assorted antique ladies hats, porcelain sink, assorted tools, a Ronson lighter, and of course an enormous gilt framed print of a Gothic auditorium.

We are past Halloween, which means we are putting out lots of items for holiday entertaining. Antique furniture arrivals this week include: a rifle cabinet, mahogany night stand and lamp table, small Asian black lacquered cabinet, funky Queen Ann faux gilt end table, 4 drawer file cabinet, pair of walnut side chairs, sewing cabinet, Eastlake needlepoint chair, dropleaf fax table, oak office desk, rush seat stools and bench, set of 6 oak dinning chairs, 4 panel folding screen in excellent condition-a photo is attached, small open bookcase, unusual primitive coffee table with carved sides, and more. Another shipment of natural form tree furniture and accessories showed up this week. There are a bunch of funky tree parts on stands-a photo is attached. They are great conversation pieces. Also some large pieces of driftwood arrived. Lots of bowls and trinket boxes came in as well, a photo is attached. Tree furniture included: a desk and chair, lots of benches, and a unique and bizarre outdoor sink and mirror combo. Lots of great smalls came in this week including: a pair of sterling and crystal hurricane candle holders, sterling silver [mint dish, fish plate, toast rack, candle holders, creamer, and pitcher], lots of silver plated hollowware and flatware, Onyx [figure, candle holder, clock, and cool swan box], lots of heavy cut glass pieces, assorted crystal pieces and sets of glasses, a nice pair of ornate pickle cruets, coloured glass and china odds and ends, a large ceramic vase, assorted tools, a French style phone, mirrors, miniature antique toy trucks, and more. Two signed framed winter scene prints arrived, as did prints of barns ironically. Just in time for winter we bought out an end of line on hall trees, some cheap options for hanging coats are in stock. A large amount of sterling silver showed up including: 68 piece Louie XV Birks flatware set, 2 brush and mirror sets, 17 piece grooming set, powder dish, pair of candle sticks, tooth pick holder, gravy boat, assorted bowls and dishes, and lots of flatware. The tree coat racks from a few weeks ago were a big hit and sold out quickly so we got in another batch this week. You can scroll down this page to the September 24th update to see a photo. For the vain among us 10 mirrors came in this week, from small to quite large in various styles and colours. Antique furniture arrivals this week include: a fantastic double solid cherry poster bed, oak table desk, blue wicker chair, country French side chair, Victorian needlepoint gentleman’s chair, Kroehler chest of drawers, mid-century modern table and chairs, outdoor vegetable table, red hall tree, child’s rocker and chair, 2 different oak dressers and mirrors, small French provincial curio cabinet, set of 4 country Empire caned seat chairs, and more. Lots of crystal and glass came in this week including: sets of glasses, large and small bowls, vases both large and small, candle holders, baskets, bells, sets of plates, frogs, and even a juicer. Chaos reigned at The Barn this week. Film and television production is a big part of our business, which has been busy lately. This week alone we have furniture and props out to six different productions, and that creates some chaos with so much coming and going, and coming back. If you come in to purchase something that you saw previously, and you can’t find it, it’s always good to ask because your piece might just be out on a rental. Amid all the chaos we managed to bring in some fresh antique furniture including: a kidney vanity desk, a double mahogany poster bed, mahogany chest of drawers, dovetailed pine blanket box, nest of tables, assorted lamp tables, wicker plant stand, cast iron and wood park bench, Victorian chairs, a pair of finger roll chairs, oak table desk, old pine one board treasure chest, Queen Anne needlepoint footstool, and more. The more includes a rare large ornate cherub console and mirror. It has a marble top, its from Italy, and is something we don’t come across very often-a photo is attached. Miscellaneous arrivals this week include: oil lamps, 3 brass poker sets, a crystal chandelier, irons and trivets, trunks, needlepoint pictures, 2 sailboat oil paintings, sleigh, swag lamp, iron garden pieces, and lots of china dishes including a Bavarian tea service, Aynsley set, and 2 different Hutschenreuther sets. Two new colours in this shipment: cotton white, and vintage huron. We also got in a large batch of tin signs; lots of old favorites and lots of new ones as well. They were our best selling Christmas gifts last year for under $20, especially the superhero signs for the kids, and the funny ones for the cranky relatives. The award for the most unusual item of the week goes to a 1930’s string holder from a butchers shop.

This week the first samples of a new line of tree furniture arrived, including: coat racks made from tree trunks, indoor/outdoor table and 4 benches, and a porch bench. Two great wall phones showed up, a 1960’s pay phone with keys, and an oak wall phone in mint condition. Furniture arrivals this week include: a fireside bench, early 1800’s primitive bench, walnut office desk, a pair of swivel bar stools, pine 2 door bookcase, small mahogany inlaid corner cabinet, corner wicker hamper, record cabinet, walnut cedar chest, inlaid nest of tables, shabby sheik round coffee table, umbrella stand painted white and more. Lots of chairs this week including: a set of 6 with rush seats, 2 arrow backs, 2 chicken coop, 2 bamboo with arms, 2 early press backs, Victorian ladies chair, and more. Even more cool stuff includes: 3 framed Oakville and Bronte prints, a great apple ladder, assorted paintings, cheese box, 2 toboggans, grandfather clock, 48 piece set of Ironstone dishes, reproduction spinning wheel, 2 trunks, fire screen, folk art pieces, 2 pine door mirrors, miscellaneous smalls, and more. After a long wait the Irish coast bedroom furniture is back! Photos of the chest of drawers, the dresser, and the queen bed are attached. More furniture arrivals this week include: a bonnet chest with mustache pulls, Imperial Loyalist maple sideboard, small oak bookcase, inlaid nest of tables, a pair of Asian lamp tables, red leather bedroom chair, child’s caned bentwood rocker, black parlour table, walnut cedar chest, child’s roll top desk, an unusual sized Eastlake washstand-would make a great oversized night stand, and more. More arrivals this week include: a large cast iron poker set, brass and irons, Art deco vanity mirror, carved mirror, 2 framed Linda Thompson prints, antique coffee grinder-we haven’t had one in a while, assorted books and records, assorted silver plate including a nice tea set, cool tool box, assorted crystal and china, and more. A 12 volume do it yourself encyclopedia from 1956 came in, in case anyone wants to see how people did it themselves 60 years ago. When you’ve been around as long as we have sometimes pieces come back to you. There used to be a funky 8 legged console table in the Irish coast line. It got discontinued about a decade ago. One of our customers is downsizing and we bought back an 8 legged console table. You can see first hand how well the Irish coast line holds up over time.

This week we brought in a fantastic 8 piece French inlaid satinwood bedroom set; a photo is attached. A collection of 11 doors came in, ranging from the 1920’s to the 1960’s. Antique furniture arrivals include: an excellent Duncan Phyfe banded dinning room table with 2 inserts and heat pads, walnut chifforobe, Chevelle mirror, drop leaf mahogany sofa table, a medium size oak office desk, set of 4 pub chairs, a low Chippendale curio cabinet, a pair of semi porcelain pedestals, a Mexican pine armoire, a couple of parlour tables, iron and wicker table and 4 chairs, 4 piece white bamboo kitchen set with bevelled glass tops, white bamboo glass top coffee table, walnut depression style drop leaf table, and assorted chairs. Some odds and ends this week include: an old wagon-Jetliner #38, a batch of framed Bartlett prints, some decent picture frames, 2 coal scuttles, a vanity mirror, brass umbrella stand, tater bin, bread box, sewing box, chandeliers, assorted framed paintings, ox yokes which make great plant hangers, and more. Not lots more this week just more.
