They’re back!!! The hugely popular bobblehead gnomes which we thought were never going to be seen again are back. If you place a big enough order sometimes things work out. They showed up with a bunch of large resin Christmas figures, photos are attached. We also got in some of our more popular small garden gnome figures. We usually don’t carry them this time of year, but many of our customers requested that we bring them back for Christmas presents, so we did. Speaking of Christmas, we put out all kinds of new holiday items this week. As well as many vintage Christmas items that we’ve been collecting and stashing away all year long. Antique furniture arrivals from this past week included: lots of assorted chairs, a nice solid walnut button push dropleaf sofa table, walnut cedar chest, oak wash stand, walnut double bed, large gold mirror, walnut tea table, pink porcelain pedestal, large iron and glass coffee table, umbrella stand, oak potty, carved oak headboard, faux finished 2 drawer dresser, iron and glass entrance table, Eastlake organ stool, and more. More cool new stuff includes: a copper boiler, gold milk can, nice oak coal scuttle, funky alligator shaped lake gator sign, large majolica center bowl, 34” tall pair of Italian figure lamps-a photo is attached, butter churn, bird feeder, a lot of vintage cameras, Remington manual typewriter and case marked British empire product, outdoor planters, assorted china, vintage prop phone, 2 floor lamps, and lots more. The award for most unusual item of the week goes to a single snow shoe that someone has made into an odd piece of Christmas décor.

 

November 4th, 2019

This week we received a shipment of reclaimed wood furniture. All arrivals were from our Irish coast and Provence lines, a photo of the Provence dinning table is attached. More photos and details can be seen on our Reproductions page. Photos are also attached of three small French tables and a tufted red leather sofa from the Art shoppe. There are actually two identical sofas, we will be selling them separately if you only need one. Antique furniture arrivals from this past week included: a nice marble top plant stand, small walnut bookcase, half moon end table, small quarter cut oak drop front desk, set of 5 Hepplewhite chairs, mahogany footstool, matching Empire rocker and chair, round mahogany tilt top table, maple school desk, oak blanket box, a shipping trunk, and a bunch of assorted chairs. Even more stuff showed up including: crystal decanters, sets of crystal wine glasses, large cylindrical cut crystal vase, some figurines, small wind up clock, cuckoo clock, 3 mantle clocks, 2 wooden rice bowls, 2 gilt mirrors, a lot of cups and saucers, ornate cast iron chandelier, Jacobian twist mirror, brass kettle and stand, nice electrified Gone with the wind lamp, buck saw, boat buoy, cant hook, collection of vintage hats, round school clock, assorted lamps, assorted framed prints and paintings, a working floor model antique radio made in Stratford Ontario, a not working table top antique radio, wood boxes, and lots more.

Lots of cool lighting showed up this passed week including a rare 8 arm crystal chandelier type lamp, and a bunch of chandeliers. A photo is attached of a funky vintage light fixture with floating balls inside the hanging balls. Another attached photo is of a mint condition violin in a carrying case. Yes we carry musical instruments! We get everything from accordions to zithers. The stock is always changing, at the moment we have a complete drum kit, a flute, a nice baby grand piano, and a couple of African style drums, in addition to the violin. For anyone wondering, the middle photo this week is a Howdah. A Howdah is a chair or bed used for riding an elephant or camel. It even has the holes drilled for attaching a canopy. It is good for all your elephant riding needs, which should come in handy in Ontario. One of our customers said it would make a fantastic dog bed. Antique furniture arrivals this week included: heavy iron coat tree, dovetailed pine blanket box, rare 8′ long sofa table, large walnut dropleaf table, assorted small tables, walnut half moon table, T. Eaton Co. miniature parlour table, walnut magazine table, and more. A photo is attached of 4 of the always popular wood crates. More fun arrivals included: 2 brass wood boxes, a batch of oil lamps, a collection of sad irons and trivets, 2 stained glass windows, small cathedral clock, bowls galore[china, wood, brass, etc.], cream can, window mirror, assorted miniatures, mason jars, planters, block and tackle, and lots more. If you are a regular reader of these updates and you’ve noticed that we mention magazine tables nearly every week, it’s not the same one! We get and sell lots of magazine tables. We don’t think many of them get used for magazines these days, but they are handy little tables just the same.

This past week we began preparations for winter at The Barn, the fireplace will be on soon. Of course we still made some time for new arrivals. A new line of larger embossed tin signs arrived. Antique furniture arrivals included: a set of 4 Queen Anne dinning chairs[2 arms, 2 sides] from the Art Shoppe, set of 4 Eastlake caned kitchen chairs, 2 door pine TV cabinet, cherry French provincial sideboard, 2 walnut magazine tables, a nice walnut magazine rack, ornate double wall shelf, oak stenographer’s chair, maple hall tree, small walnut halfmoon table, collapsible sewing cabinet, unusual walnut end table, and more. A bunch of chandeliers showed up this week, we took a photo of one before it got hung up, a photo is attached. More fun arrivals included: 2 Underwood manual typewriters, 2 large framed 1970’s paintings, 2 early Kodak cameras, copper broiler, unusual baby scale with wicker baby holder, 1950’s signed Lucite purse, pair of large wooden clamps, oval gilt mirror, wood step ladder, mirrored wall miniatures display, cool trunk with travel stickers, Set of 6 John Aynsley cobalt blue demitasse cups and saucers, Four Wedgwood pieces including a nice biscuit barrel, a small batch of great Aynsley cups and saucers, and more. The award for most unusual item of the week goes to a set of 1970’s doorway curtain beads.

 

October 7th, 2019

Lots of old favorites came in this past week, plus lots of new additions! A collection of fantastic art glass vases, bowls, trays, and figures arrived. A photo is attached of a few of the large vases. We’ve been sold out of some of these for months; about half the collection is brand new. A batch of Tiffany lamps also showed up including: animal figures, the famous teapot lamp, and the always popular dragonfly lamps. A photo is attached. A rare tabletop cylinder Victrola with stand and 38 cylinder records came in. It’s in perfect working condition, a photo is attached. Antique furniture arrivals from this past week included: tree branch hall tree, 2 tier mahogany lamp table, ornate 2 tier walnut coffee table, sewing cabinet, mahogany night stand, narrow gateleg dropleaf table, Gibbard mahogany china cabinet, 2 door lowboy, footstools, piano stool, 2 rocking chairs, and all kinds of assorted living room, dinning room, and kitchen chairs. Even more new arrivals included: a copper boiler, brass kettles and log basket, storm windows, 2 fireplace poker sets, 18” high brass mantel clock, 16piece Bavarian tea set, assorted advertising tins, tea trolley tray, and lots of good smalls[Wedgwood, Minton’s, Royal Doulton, Aynsley, & lots of crystal]. Crocks showed up, we have quite a large collection of crockery at the moment. Anne with an E has bought the majority of our crocks over the last few years, but now they are all crocked up.

 

September 30th, 2019

This past week a shipment of reclaimed wood furniture arrived. We’ve restocked four pieces that were sold out: Provence coffee table, Provence long dresser, Irish coast small coffee table, and three drawer Lifestyle file cabinet. Photos and details can be seen on our Reproductions page. A couple of weeks ago we bought a lot of approximately 200 dinning chairs. We’ve started to sort them out and we will bring them in as we have space. A photo is attached of a few of the sets that came in. Most are sets of 4 to 8 chairs. Additional antique furniture arrivals included: a terrific pair of leather ox blood library chairs, pine school desk, French half moon end table, maple wine rack table, mahogany nest of tables, pub table, walnut night stand, narrow gateleg dropleaf table, unusual round brass top coffee table, and lots more chairs[pair Vilas arm chairs, pair Queen Ann arm chairs, unusual hall chair, etc., etc.]. We put out a new lot of tools, a photo is a attached of our main tool cabinet. The larger items like saw, axes, scythes, ladders and various impaling instruments, etc. aren’t in the photo, we try to hang those up. More new arrivals included: a rare reversible washboard, cast iron umbrella stand, pair of ceramic pedestles, stained glass window, 78’s records, cast iron pots, large oak mirror, bird feeder, suitcase trunk, more washboards, pedestal sink, round wicker hamper, assorted wicker baskets, cherry pitter, brass fan screen, brass magazine rack, 4piece sterling tea set, assorted silver plate holloware[pair of candelabras, water jug, various tea sets, large basket, etc.], and lots more.

This past week we got in a huge shipment of replica tin signs. They have been our most popular Christmas gift item two years in a row. At $18 they make for a fun inexpensive gift. A photos is attached of just a few. We currently have 123 different tin signs in stock. Humorous and superheroes signs are our two best sellers. A grandfather clock showed up, a photo is attached. This past week the first samples of a bran new line of wood slat signs arrived-a photo is attached. My favorite: “Always be yourself unless you can be Batman then always be Batman”, truer words were never spoken. A shipment of our latest hit “Provence” arrived. The 4 drawer and one door chests as well as the 63” dinning table are back in stock. We’ve stocked up on a few other Provence pieces. Photos can be seen on our Reproductions page. This past week we got in an enormous shipment of reclaimed wood furniture. We’ve restocked a bunch of pieces from our Provence line including: coffee tables, benches, and the extension dinning table. We are having trouble keeping the Provence line in stock, its been more popular than we anticipated. There is lots more Provence on the way. The sundried hall table is back, as is the large armoire in African dusk-a photo is attached. September 2nd, 2019

This past week we brought in another truck load from the Indian lot from a couple of weeks ago. New arrivals from that lot included: sets of sap buckets, charcoal irons, blanket chests, colourful small two door bookcase, night stands, small primitive two door cabinet, WWII helmets, lanterns, pulleys, large wooden mugs, handmade copper and steal pots and jugs, hanging kettles, hand carved wooden trays, 2 great scales, large metal advertising containers, a cool bicycle floor lamp-a photo is attached, and more. A couple of cool toys came in: The Donaldson Jockey Cycle company tricycle 1944-1948-a photo is attached, and a 5piece vintage Massey Harris toy tractor set. Antique furniture arrivals included: Malcom walnut chest of drawers and matching bed, needlepoint items[footstool, Eastlake chair, French Empire chair], oak steno chair, several sets of dinning chairs, a really nice large pair of pedestals, assorted night stands, sewing cabinet, pine kneehole desk, oval leather top parlour table with unusual brass gallery, 3 tier plant stand and more. Odds and ends included:3 washboards, exceptional pair of 1950’s bedroom lights, large European gilt mirror, sleigh, lots of printer’s trays, pair of brass wall sconces, Coleman lantern, wooden crates, 2 large road signs, window frame and window mirror, 3 crocks, 3 sets of crystal glasses, and more. We also acquired more cowbell! A collection of 12 cow bells turned up.

At this point I believe we must have all the cups and saucers! They have become very popular collectables of late, so we keep expanding our collection, in a wide price range starting at $5. Too many to count came in this past week including lots of Paragon, Aynsley, Shelley, Royal Crown Derby[Imari & Mikado], Coalport, Royal Bayreuth, Royal Albert, Birks Ellis Ryrie, Elizabethan, and many more. We are stocking up for fall and received a shipment of reclaimed Irish Coast furniture this week; mostly living room furniture-media units, coffee and end tables, and nests of tables. We also got in 6′ long live edge sheesham[north Indian rosewood] tables, a photo is attached. Antique furniture arrivals from this past week included: a terrific tall Victorian bookcase-a photo is attached, refinished student’s desk, ladies desk, 4 assorted night stands, assorted lamp tables, 2 buffet mirrors, 2 tier mahogany piecrust table, pair of Victorian ladies’ and gentleman’s chairs, assorted press back chairs, iron magazine table, Gibbard dining room server, primitive hanging spice cabinet, pair of pedestals, double Eastlake jam cupboard, a dozen assorted mirrors, rare Krug drop front desk, and more. Just for good measure this week we threw in: a pair of cast iron urns, sets of crystal glasses, double Beaver gumball machine, assorted sterling and silver plated flatware, and as always even more stuff.
